March has been a truly empowering month as we celebrate women’s achievements, uplift one another, and reflect on the strength of our sisterhood. What began at our school as a simple bond has grown into a powerful force—our shared commitment to supporting and inspiring each other is, without a doubt, our superpower.
This month, we are especially proud to highlight one of our own, Anisa Adem (Class of the 80s), whose generosity and vision have brought two meaningful initiatives to life.
We are honored to announce the Adem Frew Memorial Fund, a $500 yearly scholarship starting in the 2026–2027 academic year. This competitive scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates strong academic potential and financial need. In loving memory of a father who deeply believed in the power of women’s education, this scholarship will cover full-year tuition, two school uniforms, and essential school supplies. He ensured his daughters were educated and supported them in pursuing higher education in the United States. Today, his legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, who are thriving across diverse professions—including neurosurgery. Through this scholarship, we carry forward his vision: educate a girl, empower the next generation.

💖 Female Hygiene Support Initiative
We are excited to share that this initiative is funded by Transformation Fellowship Christian Church (Apex, NC) and Lotus Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Center (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia). In partnership with the Adem and Sada Foundation, we will provide 50 reusable hygiene products made at the orphanage they support. This effort will help ease the burden for students and provide sustainable support for the next 2–3 years.
We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a lasting impact.
🙏🏽 Thank you, Anisa, and our valued partners, for trusting AYBS Alumni Association to honor this legacy and continue empowering girls at your childhood school.
✨ Educate a girl. Empower the next generation. ✨
