New Year’s Greeting

We hope you all have started the Ethiopian New Year with joy, peace, and renewed energy. As we step into this season of new beginnings, we are grateful for the continued strength of our alumni community and the opportunities ahead to celebrate, connect, and give back.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Haimanot Geleta, Class of 2006!

We’re excited to share that our alumna, Haimanot Getch (Class of 2006), donated 30 physics books to our school library to support Grade 11 and 12 students in their entrance exam preparation in June 2025.

During her visit, Haimanot met with Gash Negeri and Etye Tirunesh to discuss the current challenges and efforts in preparing Grade 12 students for their upcoming exams.

The books she generously donated are specifically designed to help students succeed, with a strong focus on exam readiness.

"It was a meaningful visit for me as well—I was happy to see the school again after 18 years," Haimanot shared.

We are truly grateful for your generosity and commitment, Haimanot. Thank you for paying it forward and for proudly representing our alumni community. Your support means so much to our students and school family.

A Joyful Gathering: 3rd Alumni Reunion

ree

On August 9, 2025, we came together in Arlington, VA for our 3rd AYBS Alumni Reunion—a day filled with laughter, stories, and cherished memories. Alumni traveled from across the U.S., including Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and more.

The event was especially meaningful as we welcomed alumni representing decades from the 1980s through the 2000s. Even one of our beloved former music and Bible teachers joined us, making the celebration extra special.

Highlights of the Day

🎤 Guest of Honor- We were honored to host Mr. Mesfin Taye, who shared touching reflections and memories of his years at AYBS.

🕊️ Moments of Remembrance- We observed a few minutes of silence in memory of alumni, teachers, and administrators who have passed on.

📖 Stories by Decade- Alumni shared heartfelt stories from their school years, grouped by decade—the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.

🎲 AYBS Bingo Game- A lively activity encouraged alumni to connect across decades. Through AYBS Bingo, members discovered fun facts about each other, sparking new connections and friendships.
